Domain name not being used

Hello,

I am reaching out in regards of Shopify being the reseller of a certain domain name that I want. I searched the domain website and it is no longer up / operating. The domain is locked. Its original registrar is Tucows Domains. It also has 3 indicators on the WHOis website, “client hold,” “client transfer prohibited,” and “client update prohibited.” I reached out to the registrant via contact privacy inc, and haven’t heard anything back yet. Is there any advice you can give regarding the domain name that Shopify is the reseller of? I need it and I’m trying to avoid waiting a year until the current domain’s registrant renewal expires. Was wondering how you guys handle transferring or reselling of domain names that Shopify now has.

Since the domain is locked with indicators like “client hold” and “client transfer prohibited,” it suggests there are unresolved issues, possibly with payment or legal matters, preventing its transfer. If Shopify is the reseller, you can contact Shopify Support to see if they can assist or give insights into the domain’s status. Keep in mind, though, that unless the current registrant releases or allows the transfer, there’s little that can be done until the lock is removed or the domain expires. Continuing to reach out to the current owner is a good step while keeping an eye on the domain’s status.
