I am unable to send a Shopify email. When I click “Review,” I get a message for missing URL Link, and 3 sections of the message are highlighted. When I send a test email, each of the buttons links to the correct area. This has never been an issue with emails in the past, so I am wondering if it is an error in the system?
Topic summary
Multiple Shopify users are encountering a “Need URL Link” error when attempting to review and send email marketing campaigns. The error highlights specific sections, even though:
Issue Details:
- Test emails show all links functioning correctly
- URLs are properly formatted and verified
- Error persists in sections with automatically-generated product links from Shopify
- Removing buttons/links entirely does not resolve the error
Attempted Solutions:
- Verifying all URLs are correctly formatted (starting with https://)
- Confirming linked products are live and active on websites
- Sending test emails to validate link functionality
Current Status:
The issue remains unresolved with at least three users reporting identical problems. The pattern suggests a potential system-level bug rather than user error, as standard troubleshooting steps have failed and the error occurs even with Shopify’s auto-generated product links.
Hi @Jedifishgeek
Double check the links in the email template.
1- Go to Marketing > Campaigns and select the specific email campaign you’re working on.
2- Click Edit Email Content to review the template.
3- In the highlighted sections, ensure each button or link has a URL specified and double-check that the URLs are formatted correctly (e.g., starting with https://).
Hope this helps!
Hello,
Thank you. I have checked all URLs. I have also sent myself a test email, and all links work correctly - which should mean that the URLs are good??? This is also only happening in the sections where I am linking specific products - and the links are created automatically from Shopify. The items are all live on my website, so I know that they are active.
Additionally, I still get the same error message when I remove the button with a link. I would assume that would solve the issue - since no URL is being used.
I am having the same problem. It is very frustrating. I’ve check all of the links also.
I am having the same problem! All my links appear to be correct, and a test e-mail to myself shows all the links are working correctly. Any other suggestions?
I was having the same problem with external links and I’ve managed to fix it. I hope this works for other people too.
Once you add a link to the box, you need to hover the mouse over the bit i’ve put a red rectangle around.
Once you’ve clicked on it, this will change to a blue link and then the error message disappeared. (I tried to add an extra screenshot but the website wouldn’t allow me). I’ll try and add one below.
I made sure I had the https:// bit at the beginning of the link - not sure if that matters or not, but probably best to include it.
This is how it looked once i’d clicked on the link
