Enable Third Party Cookie Message

Hi

Can someone help me. I can’t access my Shopify store. I have cleared cache and cookies and updated Chrome but still getting the same message as in the screenshot.

Hey @Molly8 ,

This message is indicating that your browser’s third-party cookie settings are preventing Shopify from setting cookies. To fix this issue, you’ll need to enable third-party cookies in your browser’s settings.

Here are the steps to enable third-party cookies in Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the browser
  3. Click on Settings
  4. Scroll down and click on Advanced
  5. Under Privacy and security, click on Site settings
  6. Click on Cookies and site data
  7. Toggle the switch for “Block third-party cookies” to off.

Once you have enabled third-party cookies, try accessing your Shopify store again. If you continue to have issues, try using a different browser or clearing your browser’s cache and cookies again.

Otherwise, how is your store going? I noticed you are using the Minimal theme which is a free theme created by Shopify. It is one of the popular themes that has a responsive and wide layout, which looks great on many devices. It is a simple but very mobile-friendly theme! You can unpack more of Minimal’s features on our Shopify Blog here too.

I am on my ipad. I have settings and Privacy & Security but nothing else. I

Kind regards

Hi

I moved over to Shopify Mobile App because I was using the desktop site on
my ipad. It worked well for a while but then I had browser issues.

Kind regards

Molly

There are SEVERAL posts about this same issue. It appears to keep happening. I would recommend escalating this one. TIA!

@Shruti9

I will get in touch with our internal technical team as this appears to be an ongoing issue. Will report back once I receive an update.

Any ETA for when this will be fixed? This seems to happen since Shopify first switched to the https://admin.shopify.com/store/store-handle structure for some stores (which btw makes it much harder to read the store handle at just a glance).

Unfortunately not. I have stayed with the mobile app.

Thanks Moira.

Hello Joanne-Kidding,

Try using Chrome to access your store. This has worked for everyone in our team so far!

Best regards,

Michael

This is really sloppy work on SHOPIFY PART. They have all these teck Savy people still trying to offer solutions to an obvious flaw that needs to be taken more seriously.
Maybe anyone with a Mac is going through this? Is that why CHROME is being offered as the solution? too many businesses are hooked on to Shopify now.

I am having the exact same issue on my iMac for the past few hours…the pop up to enable third party cookies keeps appearing even though all cookies are enabled. Also I cannot edit my theme (Automation) as it keeps re-directing to the Password page–effectively inhibiting me from building my storefront, as the Password page is the only area within the theme that can be edited at the moment.

Please provide a fix soon.

This didn’t happen yesterday, only today when I logged into Shopify. I am on an iMac on Ventura 13.3.1

Thanks for your work on this.

Hi, do you have a solution for Safari?? Thanks.

Same here. Has there been a resolution yet. It happen in both chrome & safari. Shopify has not shown a valid fix on its site yet.

On one of the occasions that I reported this third party cookies issue the reply was they were aware of it and it is being worked on to find an answer at Shopify. That was 3 months ago. I imagine there are quite a few people looking into this on the boards too . Ims sure we will hear of all kinds of ideas from simple to way to complicated for average Shopify owner to implement. It really needs to be addressed and corrected at Shopify end. Clearly, we have to keep it alive until it no longer hinders the general operating of ALL SHOPIFY SITES. Thanks for posting

Hi Everyone,

After two weeks of not being able to edit my storefront, I FINALLY found the setting that is triggering this pop-up, so would like to share it with everyone in hopes that it can resolve the issue for you as well.

I am on Safari and the setting that triggered this pop-up for me was the “Prevent cross-site tracking” setting. This box needs to be unchecked.

To access this setting from the current version of Safari:

Safari → Settings→ Privacy Tab → Website tracking → Prevent cross-site tracking

Make sure there is no check adjacent to “Prevent cross-site tracking”

Hope this helps!
