There was an error while updating your cart. Please try again.

I haven’t updated anything or downloaded new apps. It’s causing customers to complain and it’s a busy time of year now. Thank you. I have tried everything I know.

I understand how frustrating this can be, especially during a busy season. That “error while updating your cart” message is often related to either caching issues, outdated scripts, or minor glitches in the cart settings.

Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Clear Browser Cache: Ask users to clear their cache or try in incognito mode to see if it’s a caching issue. Sometimes, old cached data can interfere with cart updates.

  2. Check Theme Customizations: If any recent customizations were added to the theme files, there could be a small script conflict. Try switching temporarily to a default theme like “Debut” to see if the issue persists.

  3. Disable and Re-enable Apps: Even though you haven’t added new apps, sometimes updates on existing apps can cause issues. Try disabling apps that affect the cart page one by one to see if the issue resolves.

  4. Shopify Support: If the above steps don’t help, Shopify Support can check for any backend issues.

Hi there, whilst that has worked to remove the message, I probably didn’t explain enough, there is an error on my cart when adding or removing the product and this error comes up. Customers aren’t able to amend the quantity once its in the basket. If you add 2 products to the basket then go to the cart and try to make it 1 it doesn’t effect the price…

After then the error message show. Then if you go to checkout it does display the correct price, its almost like a refresh error
