Feedback on a new store! New user experience, etc

I Launched https://ghosthunt.co/ a few months back and I feel like it’s in a marketable spot.

Overall, my conversion rate sits at around 3% with over 1,000 visitors in 30 days. Things are scaling, but I’ve been staring the same code snippets and checkout pages so long I no longer have an authentic perspective. I would love some feedback! Be harsh.

@studaines This is such a well-developed store. I browsed around for quite a while and honestly felt tempted to place an order myself. I really love the whole Ghosthunt concept, and I’m sure a lot of people are into mysticism and the unknown too. Your prices are super affordable, and offering free shipping to help boost AOV is a smart move.

I don’t have any criticism at all, just really hoping you’ll come out with even more fun product lines. Maybe something around UFOs, reincarnated lamas, or mysterious creatures from different parts of the world. You could also consider collabs with other brands that have a strong spooky vibe. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to introduce you to a few DTC brand owners in that space who are doing some amazing stuff.

Also, I think you might want to consider offering an affiliate program for people who genuinely love your products. They don’t have to be influencers, just fans who d be proud to act as ambassadors for your brand. Some of them might even help bring in valuable backlinks for your site. That’s something I’ve seen firsthand from my own experience.

Hi @studaines

Your store is well designed.

One idea that I have for you, your banner image is perfect for this.

Install an app like Shoppable Image Hotspots, that will link directly to the product page instead of a visitor having to go through a collection page to find a shirt they want to buy.

I believe that the best way to get sales is to reduce the customer’s journey to as few steps as possible.

Sending them directly to the product page, helps reduce their steps to make a purchase.

Your store is very good already… just the marketing aspects seems to be bad

Can you elaborate? Are you referring to customer conversion rates or something else?

Wow thank you! DM me, I’d love to connect.

Great advice, thank you!

Hi @studaines

I can give you some feedback in the aspect of store SEO, and you may find more space to do further optimization on the store I believe, after reading what I list here carefully.

  1. Multiple H1 tag existing on your store. When I check your store homepage from source code page, there exist more than one H1 tag on the backend. This is not a good sign, as if so, it means your store backend structure is in a mess and if you would like search engines like Google to index and know your page content clearly and correctly, I think you may get a negative answer here.

  2. Most of your product pictures are lack of Alt text content. If you do not know what is Alt text, you can read this article I attach here for more details. In short, it is used for describing image to Google and improving search results. Your store is designed vividly and attractively indeed, but if without alt text added, Google may feel confusing about what they are and may fail to connect pictures on your store with page content properly. Here I list some examples which are lack of alt texts below for your reference, you can take a look and consider adding the missing alt text on your own.

  3. Pay attention to the length of Meta Title and Meta Description. I have checked your store Meta Title and Meta Description length with the help of Online Character Count Tool. The Meta Title on your website is too long, and they need to be shortened for a better display performance in Google Search. The recommended length for Meta Title length should be within 50-70 characters. Please kindly note here.

    Moreover, I notice something unusual while checking your page performance on Google. Some web pages’ meta description contents are not updated in Google Search, this may be due to the outdated data existing on your store, or the Meta Tag related code is not working normally in store theme.liquid file. I share you here one example below and you had better double check with support team to fix this situation:

Overall, I’m happy to know your store has over 1000 visitors in nearly a month, which is great to know, but it will be better for your store conversion rate with a regular SEO Check and you shall get better achievement in the future I believe. May your store boost more sales and my shared here can give you some ideas also. Thank you!

Hi there! I’ve had a look at your store and tbh it looks really good. I think my only issues came with the reviews section.

As you can see in the image, I think the first set of reviews under the “let the customers speak” heading can be way more detailed (not too much so it doesn’t seem long) just so that it can appear more authentic.
For the longer review that came under, I noted that an “AI generated” message appears under which I don’t think is a good look and you should probably find a way to hide it from the homepage

Hii @studaines , I thoroughly reviewed your store, and the first thing that came to mind is your design. You have designed an amazing store for your store with optimization as well. As per your services, your design seems very unique and well-structured. Additionally, I have tested your store performance on the Google Page Insights Report, and the below are the results generated from it -

It seems a little improvement is needed in the LCP score, as it is very high. Below are the practices you should apply to keep your LCP score down -

Render Blocking Requests

Try to reduce or eliminate the blocking request. If you’re using fonts like Google Fonts, load them with preconnect and display=swap. For example -

<link rel="preconnect" href="https://fonts.googleapis.com" crossorigin>

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Roboto&display=swap" rel="stylesheet">

Lazy Load Below-the-Fold Images

Try to lazy load the images by applying like this -

<img src="{{ image | image_url }}" loading="lazy" alt="{{ image.alt }}">

Compress Images and media

Try to compress images before you upload by using any online tool. Compressed Images always ensure LCP is down for the store by reducing the loading time.

Alternatively, if you are looking for an automated solution, I recommend using Website Speedy, which improves the overall performance score automatically, and no code knowledge is required.

Will you be open for zoom, so we can hash this out better?

Congrats on the launch of Ghosthunt! A 3% conversion rate with over 1,000 visitors is a solid start, and you’re scaling well.

One suggestion, have you considered offering product bundles? For example, if you have T-shirts like the Paranormal Investigation Tee, Ghost Cowboy Vintage T, and Sad Ghost Vintage Tee, you could bundle them together and offer a discount. iCart’s bundling feature makes it easy to automatically offer discounts when customers add multiple items to their cart. It’s a seamless way to increase your average order value without interrupting the shopping experience.

Also, reviewing your checkout flow or experimenting with different layouts could help improve conversions even more.

You’re definitely on the right track! Let me know if you’d like to chat more about any of these ideas!

Hey! Just wanted to say that your store’s conversion rate actually isn’t below average compared to industry standards for apparel—so you’re not doing badly at all.

That said, there’s always room to optimize. One strategy you might try is using popups to convert visitors who are on the fence. People are cost-conscious these days, and offering small discounts via a well-timed popup can help seal the deal. For example, you could offer 10% off to users who are about to exit the site.

We’ve built a popup app that does exactly that—triggering based on specific behaviors like exit intent, cart value, or time on site. These little nudges can really add up and give your conversion rate a noticeable boost.
