I am using the basic plan and I don’t have shopify payments. When a customer pays using paypal, will I be charged 2% transaction fees and 2.9% + 30 cents credit card fees? Or only 2% transaction fees?

That is a great question. The amount you will be charged will depend on your store’s location, as well as your Shopify plan. Where are you located? For now, I will assume you are located in the United States.
If you’re located in the United States; you’re charged between .05-2% depending on your plan each time a customer makes a purchase using PayPal without Shopify Payments activated. If you have activated Shopify Payments you aren’t charged third-party transaction fees on orders, and will not be charged the Shopify Payments fees.
Keep in mind, you will be charged PayPal processing fees regardless of if you have Shopify Payments activated or not. This is charged via PayPal, and not via Shopify.
