Dear community, please help me find how to solve a problem that just appeared from this week on…
I have 1 step checkout, and in the past when I client clicks to complete order, the goods price is shown and also the freight costs shown and also an Total of the order. Now, without any changes by my part, the freight costs are shown only if the clients completes the postal code…so postal code now is mandatory, which was not in the past…
I need to know if it’s possible in the checkout for the postal code not to be mandatory, and how? Thanks a lot in advance…
Hey @RareshuB ,
Thanks for Bringing up this Question to Shopify community. Could you please share your store url so that I can take a look and provide you with the solution.
Thanks

I just check the issue. This issue with the shipping and taxes. Would you mind to share the collab code of the store with me in the private message so that I can fix it.
Thanks
Unfortunately I just found this article: https://changelog.shopify.com/posts/shipments-to-romania-will-soon-require-a-postal-code
I can find any application that shows freight in the checkout page without completing the postal code ?
I’ve dealt with this before. It usually happens after an update to the theme, checkout module, or shipping plugin. Some of them start requiring the postal code to calculate shipping rates more accurately, especially if you’re using real-time carrier rates.
Since it used to work without the postal code, check your shipping method settings. Look for something like “Require full address” or “Estimate shipping with postal code” and try disabling it if the option exists.
Also, if you’re using a one-step checkout extension, check its own settings. Some have their own rules about when shipping gets calculated. It’s also a good idea to clear cache and check if a recent update made the postal code field required by default.
If none of this helps, you might want to reach out to the plugin or module support. They might be able to confirm if something changed in a recent version.
