Frozen Account Shopify And They Won't Email Me Back

Topic summary

Account access issue: A merchant’s Shopify store was frozen after missing a $1 subscription payment and being prompted for verification. Despite two support tickets and multiple contacts, there’s been no response for two weeks, causing their site to be down and revenue loss.

Blocking dependency: The merchant rebuilt a new store but cannot use or transfer their domain (website address) because it remains tied to the frozen account.

Suggested remediation steps:

  • Escalate existing tickets with numbers and note business impact to request priority handling.
  • Use Live Chat or Phone via the Help Center for immediate follow-up.
  • Confirm the missed payment is settled and attach proof.
  • For the domain: If Shopify is the registrar, request access/transfer; if a third-party registrar, contact them to detach the domain from the frozen store.
  • Raise visibility via @ShopifySupport on social media.
  • As a last resort, review Terms of Service and consider legal recourse/arbitration.

Status: No resolution yet. Access to the original account and domain transfer remain outstanding and time-sensitive.

I have been trying to get back into my shopify store for two weeks now- and have not received any help from Shopify. My account was frozen when I missed a $1 payment for my subscription and was asked to verify my account. I have created two ticket numbers and spoken with multiple people online who work for shopify and still NOTHING. I am a small business and am losing so much money with my website down. I have been told multiple times that they should be getting back to me within a few business days and now it has been two weeks. I then tried to create a new store and remade my entire website to find out that I cannot use my domain because it is connected to the frozen account. Because the account is frozen I cannot transfer the domain to my new account. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I am INCREDIBLY disappointed in shopify- as a company that promotes the fact that they are made for small businesses they are hindering my small business IMMENSELY.

Can someone on the shopify team please help me get back into my account- at least to just get my domain back?

Hi @ameliabusenhart

If your Shopify account is frozen, and you’re not receiving responses from Shopify, follow these steps to address the issue:

1-Escalate Your Support Tickets:

  • Provide your ticket numbers and request escalation in your email or chat with Shopify Support. Mention the impact on your business to stress urgency.

2-Contact Shopify Support Directly:

  • Use Shopify’s Live Chat or Phone Support for immediate follow-up. You can find these options via Shopify’s Help Center.

3-Verify Payment:

  • Confirm the missed payment has been resolved, and attach proof of payment to your ticket.

4-Domain Access:

  • If Shopify manages your domain, ask specifically to regain access or transfer it. If it’s a third-party domain, contact your domain provider for assistance with detaching it from the frozen account.

5-Leverage Social Media:

  • Tweet or post your issue with @ShopifySupport for visibility. Public platforms often get faster responses.

6-Seek Legal Recourse or Arbitration:

  • As a last resort, review Shopify’s Terms of Service regarding frozen accounts, and consult legal advice if you’ve been unable to regain access after exhausting all other options.

If you have other questions, feel free to ask, and I will answer them as well.

Best regards,
Daisy
