Google merchant center misinterpretation issue

Hallo, i have a big issue with my united states Merchant center account, it is banned for Misinterpretation , even tough my german merchant center with the exact same shopify website is approved and running free listing on google with no issue? i cant get an specific answer from google as they always say that i need to look into their policies… which doesnt help obviously , same answer any time i email their contact though, please help me with that, thanks in advance

Google states that each Shopify store is only allowed to link to one merchant center account.

You should delete the United States Merchant Center account and configure your existing (German) Google Merchant Account.

To target your store products to multiple countries, you can find the instructions here: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7387995?hl=en-GB#zippy=%2Cgoing-global-within-merchant-center

Thank you so much! i was dealing with this issue for weeks…, so that is the reason my united states merchant center account had misinterpretation issue?

If you are linking to the same store and added the same information (twice!), their algorithm checks will indicate you have an existing Merchant Center account and would flag that up as a misrepresentation issue.

I guess you meant misrepresentation. This refers to Google not being able to verify your business is legit. This can be caused by a lot of issues.

Technically if you are targeting multiple countries, you should setup an advanced account using your first original account. More info: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/188487?hl=en

However setting this up now will not work, as you need to first resolve the second account. Having multiple accounts for targeting multiple countries is not an issue and not the reason for suspension.

But you would have had an easier time if you switch to an advanced account.

I recommend you have a look at my checklist and ensure you follow the most common issues: https://community.shopify.com/c/Ecommerce-Marketing/Checklist-Suspended-Google-Merchant-Center-Account-Fix-amp/m-p/1086444/highlight/true#M39128

thank you for the reply, i know , i sadly dont know how to resolve this issue? do i delete the other merchant accounts ( which partially doesnt work as they error i have subaccounts that i cant find or delete also… im just frustrated with this, what should I do now? thanks

No, never delete a suspended account, first resolve it.

Just search for “Google Merchant” on one of the freelancer sites and you will discover that most of the gigs are focused on solving this very issue. I would not count on any of them actually producing a positive result.

I have no idea why Google continues to allow this behaviour that is obviously throttling their business. The issue isn’t that they want to ensure their merchants abide by a very strict set of standards, that is certainly understandable. Most merchants would not want to be associated with businesses that are less than honest.

The problem is the game Google support plays with the lives of thousands of merchants who simply want an answer as to why they are being treated so poorly. They refuse to answer one simple question “Why was I banned?”.

The rules are loosely written and open to misinterpretation. Ask ten people to read them and you will get ten distinct sets of answers as to what Google actually expects.

It took me over a year to finally give up on Google. I am finding that advertising directly on social sites is proving much more fruitful than I ever expected from Google. I advertised with them when they were a young company free of the bureaucracy that is destroying them. Back then it was easy to get along with them and could be a great benefit for honest merchants.

Like all giants, Google must either adapt to growth or fail. As of now, it appears they will end up doing the latter.

Reach out to me privately if you want to know what I am doing differently to make up for the absence of Google. I think you might be happy with the result. Any advice I offer will of course be free.
