Google Merchant Center Shipping Policy issue

Hi,

Our clients products stop showing on Google Merchant Center because Google Sales Channel app doesn’t pull the shipping policy anymore from Shopify to Google. It worked fine before but on September it just got broke somehow.

Our client has so many shipping rates and policies that I can’t configure them manually. Instead, our client uses an app called Intuitive Shipping to calculate the rates, which vary depending on product dimension, weight, and client location.

We use Google Sales Channel, and it worked before, but not anymore. I was wondering if it would help if I create a new Merchant Center account and set up the shipping using the Sales Channel app, as I did when I first created the Shopping feed. The product rates get pulled fine, but not the shipping policy.

Thanks!

Hello @Superstar1

  • Ensure the Google Sales Channel app has permission to access and retrieve shipping information from your Shopify store.
  • Go to your Shopify admin, navigate to Apps > Google Sales Channel, and check the app’s permissions. If any permissions are missing, grant them.
  • Log in to your Google Merchant Center account and go to Products > Shipping settings.
  • Verify that the shipping settings are configured correctly and that the correct shipping labels are being used.
  • If necessary, update the shipping settings to match your Shopify store’s shipping policies.
  • If you have tried the above steps and the issue persists, contact the Google Sales Channel app support team. They may be able to provide more specific troubleshooting advice or assistance.
  • If the Google Sales Channel app continues to have issues, you might want to explore using a different shipping app that integrates with both Shopify and Google Merchant Center.
  • There are several shipping apps available on the Shopify app store that can help you manage shipping rates and policies, including those that are calculated based on product dimensions, weight, and client location.
  • While this might seem like a solution, it’s not recommended as it would involve duplicating your product feed and potentially causing confusion.
  • It’s better to focus on resolving the issue with your existing Merchant Center account and the Google Sales Channel app.

I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with syncing shipping policies from Shopify to Google Merchant Center (GMC) via the Google Sales Channel app. This problem can arise, especially when using third-party apps like Intuitive Shipping for complex shipping calculations.

Here’s what you can do:

Manual Configuration in Google Merchant Center:

  • Disable Automatic Shipping Updates: In the Google Sales Channel app, navigate to the settings and disable the option to automatically import shipping information.
  • Manually Set Up Shipping in GMC: Log in to your GMC account and manually configure shipping settings to mirror those in Shopify. This approach ensures that GMC accurately reflects your store’s shipping policies.

Alternative Apps for Syncing: Consider using alternative apps that can sync Shopify’s shipping settings with GMC more effectively. Use AdNabu app for syncing shipping settings automatically.

Reinstall the Google Sales Channel App: Sometimes, reinstalling the app can resolve syncing issues. Uninstall the Google Sales Channel app from Shopify and then reinstall it to see if this action restores the syncing functionality.

Monitor for Updates: Keep an eye on updates from Shopify and Google regarding the Google Sales Channel app. They may release patches or updates to address known issues.
