What’s the best way to optimize Shopify product feeds for both SEO and free listings on Google beyond GTINs and descriptions?

Hi @CTRLALTGLAM

It’s David from SearchPie here.

There are three things you should pay attention to other than your GTIN and product description, which are your product title, product images, and pricing and availability.

Your product title should start with the product type, followed by key attributes like brand, color, size, or material , for example, “Women’s Waterproof Hiking Jacket – Olive Green, Size M – Breathable Softshell.” Avoid using promotional text like “Best Price” or “Free Shipping.” and irrelevant words to ensure clarity and better keyword matching. Another common mistake that merchants usually make is writing the title in all uppercase, which can limit their product visibility.

For product images, provide a valid image_link for each variant, use supported formats like JPEG or PNG, show the full product with minimal staging, and avoid overlays or text. The product should fill most of the frame against a clean background and match the specific item listed.

Lastly, keep your pricing and availability accurate and up to date. Submit the exact price shown on your landing page, including currency, and use the correct availability status such as in_stock, out_of_stock, preorder, or backorder. Consistency across your feed and store builds trust, prevents disapprovals, and helps your listings perform better in both Google Free Listings and search results.
