Hey @ecomuser,
The requested changes requires to take a look in your theme file. By any chance can you share your store url and collab code so that I can take a look into it.
Thanks
im trying to add it in customer events
Maybe you made any mistake there. If you could share the requested detail then I can move further.
That’s not the right place to add Google Tag Manager. The correct place in theme.liquid. First snippet goes within the head and second snippet goes within the body
Hi,
To connect Google Tag Manager and track the events you would need a custom datalayer or GTM script where JavaScript code pushes ecommerce events with event data.
This will perform as:
Once you connect a custom pixel, you can preview the e-commerce events on tag assistant.
which GTM script you installed on custom pixel?
Here I have attached an image where i have created a custom datalayer for one of my clients and connected using a custom pixel.
Feel Free to ask if you have any question.
Kind Regards
ive heard and read that the new way is to add it in customer event?
you want tracking pixels (tags) on your store, right? did you try and use shopify apps for that?
Ensure you have placed your Google Tag Manager Container snippet in Settings > Customer Events rather than in theme.liquid. Then publish the tag in GTM and test using the Tag Assistant Companion Chrome extension. Also you want to turn off any conflicting app scripts that may block the initialization of GTM.
