When using multiple locations in Shopify and the Google & YouTube app, many of my listings in Google MC will show as Out of Stock. I think this is because the main location doesn’t have inventory, only the secondary location does. Is the Google & YouTube
app ignoring my secondary location inventory?
When adding metafields for age_group, color, etc. Many are not passed to Google MC correctly. Age Group is often missing. Something wrong with my workflow?
Descriptions are always missing for my Local Inventory in Google MC. Doesn’t seem to stop ads from serving. Google says to ignore it. But why? Why doesn’t it just frikkin work?
Hello Kelcey, thank you for participating in the Shopify AMA. I’m your host Emmanuel from FeedArmy.
That is a good question, and before we start, the Google and Youtube app has many issues with syncing data, is been like this for years without any change (5+ years I think).
So let’s start with your first question, the multiple markets is a new feature and the availability will come from your primary inventory data. However, it should indeed work by using the inventory data specific to that market. As it is not working, I recommend you reach out to Google via: https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app
And report the issue.
When adding metafields, it is indeed common that the data does not go to Google Merchant Center, that is a known issue, and what you can try is disconnect the app / delete the app, then re-connect. You can also report this issue using the link provided above.
Local inventory data will never have descriptions. The local inventory data should only have the id, price, availability, sale price, pla_method, etc. Essentially only inventory data.
All product data for local listings, will come from your primary shopping ads feed, while the local inventory data, is only info regarding the inventory.
If you want a better data feed solution, what I use for clients is multifeeds: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds
