Trying to grow a well-established loungewear brand that has been slowing down the past two years due to the instagram page being shadowbanned to almost no visibility (not sure why) and just lack of creativity on our end. Gifting to influencers hasn’t helped much, although they love the product. We’d like to scale up and reach more people as we know there are tons of people out there that would love the product but don’t know about it. What’s the best way to hype up our product and get it seen on a large scale? We havent had success with ig or fb ads. The brand is female owned. Is it important for the Founder to be front facing as well? Thank you.
Topic summary
A well-established loungewear brand is experiencing a two-year slowdown attributed to Instagram shadowbanning and reduced creative output. Despite positive influencer reception, gifting campaigns and Facebook/Instagram ads haven’t driven growth.
Key challenges identified:
- Extreme market saturation with numerous print-on-demand competitors launching daily
- Difficulty achieving differentiation in an oversaturated space
- Limited social media visibility due to platform restrictions
Recommended strategies:
- Diversify beyond Instagram/Facebook to TikTok Shop, Creator Marketplace, and Pinterest
- Make the female founder front-facing to add authenticity and personal connection
- Maintain consistent ad spending despite past poor performance
- Develop strategic influencer content plans beyond basic product photos
- Focus on unique differentiation to stand out from competitors
The discussion remains open with one responder requesting the store URL to provide tailored recommendations. Consensus suggests the slowdown stems from both platform issues and intense market competition rather than product quality.
The reason it’s slowing down is also likely due to the sheer amount of competitors entering the space. Every tom, dick and harry wants to launch a print on demand loungewear brand. It’s easy to get of the ground, so everyone does it. Differentiation itself it what’s getting hard. I know this because I also launched one myself, barely made it out the gate. There’s just SO damn many of these.
The best advice I have here is to keep at it. Keep those ads running, if you don’t run ads, you don’t exist. Perhaps explore TikTok Shop / Creator Marketplace.
As for the founder - yes. Especially with lifestyle brands that are easy to launch, the more personal you can make your journey and involvement the better, So it’s more than just another loungewear brand with 10k fake followers selling on insta.
Also, you need to start differentiating. How can you stand out from the 15 new brands that launched today? Test something different. Do something no-one else is doing.
I completely understand your frustration with the slowdown, especially after building a well-established loungewear brand. Social media algorithm changes and shadow banning can be incredibly challenging to overcome.
Based on what you’ve shared, here are a few initial thoughts:
With Instagram limitations, it might be time to diversify your marketing channels - TikTok and Pinterest often work exceptionally well for loungewear brands
The founder’s story can be powerful, particularly for female-owned brands where authenticity resonates with customers
Gifting to influencers works best when there’s a strategic content plan beyond just product photos
