help adding an html tag to my shopify site for google site verification

I was wondering if anyone could possible help me please. I’m sure this a really simple task but i’m terrified of making a mistake and messing up the code and breaking my site.

I’m just about to start using google shopping ads and in the google mercant centre is states that i need to upload a little snippet of code to my shopify website. Google states the following about the code —>> It should go in the -head- section, before the first - body- section.

I’ve no idea how to go about doing this. I’ve managed to set and design my site so far but adding in code is something i don’t have any experience with.

Any guidance or help would be massivley appreciated!

You can place the tag inside the and

  1. From you Admin page, go to Online store > Themes > Click the three dots on the theme you want to edit > Edit code
  2. Go to Layout folder and open the theme.liquid file
  3. Go to the very top of the file and you can paste the code anywhere before the tag. See the image on possible places you paste the code

Thankyou very much for showing me the way. I’ve just managed to do the code implementation and my sitee is now varified wwith google… Much appreciated.. D

If you say before the headtag, do you mean before it in the order? It seems the two locations are after the head tag,

Hi, can you please help me as well? I have google merchant as a tag there. Will pinterest tag disrupt that?
