Step by Step Guide to Set Up Your Shopify Store for Digital Products

1. Set Up Your Shopify Store1. Sign up / Log in to Shopify: shopify.com

  1. Choose a store name and basic info.

2. Choose a Theme

Since you’re selling digital products (like ebooks, music, PDFs, software, etc.), you want a clean, fast-loading theme like:

  • Dawn (free) – Minimal, fast, and flexible.

3. Install the Digital Downloads App (Official Shopify App)

Shopify doesn’t support digital files natively by default, so you need an app to deliver them.

How to Install:1. Go to Apps > Shopify App Store

  1. Search for Digital Downloads by Shopify

  2. Click Install

4. Create Your First Digital Product

Go to Products > Add Product and set

5. Set Up Payment Gateway

Go to Settings > Payments, and enable

6. Configure Checkout and Email Notifications- Go to Settings > Checkout

  • Disable shipping address collection (since it’s not needed)

7. Test Your Store

Before going live:

  • Set a product to $1 or create a discount

8. Launch Your Store- Connect your custom domain (Online Store > Domains)

  • Go to Settings > Plan and pick a plan to remove trial limitations

  • Start marketing via Instagram, SEO, email, or paid ads
