I have a product that is zero dollars (completely free, no tax) and a digital item (no shipping).
In checkout, is there any way to hide the “Billing Address” section? That is the name & address. It is not needed for me to process the transaction, especially address.

I’m afraid there isn’t a way to hide the customer’s billing information from the checkout as some basic information is still required to represent a bill of sale - despite the item being free. However, there are other methods that you can consider for giving customers a free download, such as adding a download link on a page or a blog, which doesn’t require customers to go through the checkout process. If none of the other methods work out for you, then I’d be happy to submit a feature request on your behalf to our development team.
Can you tell me more about the free digital product(s)? What type of file format is it?
The product is an event - with zero cost for the customer. We are capturing custom field data (custom line-item data) on the product page. We dont need any payment data (which doesnt show up) and we dont need billing data.

Hello Elias! Are there any news about the feature request? I offer a free digital product and I would love to have the possibility to hide the billing adress. I really don’t need the adress. These are sensitive data for lot’s of people.
I would just like to add another vote for this feature request. I have the exact same scenario as the OP and I have had some users who have chosen not to register for a free event just because they don’t want to add their address.

I have also requested this feature. Seems like a simple request. It is intrusive for our customers receiving free products/services, for whom address data are not needed and pose an obstacle to uptake. PLEASE FIX THIS! Thanks.

Are there any updates about the feature request? I have a couple free digital products I’d like to offer along my ebooks and I would love to have the possibility to hide the billing address. Most people won’t put in their address for a freebie. If I can’t get their email address alone I can’t market to them other products in our shopify store.
Any updates on this? I have a few digital products I plan on offering for free but there is no way I want my customers to give me their address. Please Shopify!
