Hits not resulting in sales

I’m sure this issue has been asked about many times, but I don’t have time to read through all the other posts, so I apologize for being redundant. My issue is that hits to my website are not resulting in sales. I sell industry standard products at super low prices. I have 20 years experience selling the same products in a brick-and-mortar store, so I’m not just some amateur start-up that doesn’t know his products. My website is not brand new, I’ve had it up and running for 4 years on Shopify, and about another 4 years before that on a different platform. I sold my brick-and-mortar business and now just have a side hustle, home based online-only business which is why my prices are low. But that also means I don’t have much money to pour into advertising. I’ve tried Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and I just started with Ad Intent SEO. Seems like I can get all the hits I want if I spend the money on Google and Facebook, but what good does that do if I’m getting literally zero sales? Something is fishy about that. I suspect big company competitors have bots that scour the internet for ads from little guys like me and use up our clicks. Another thing that seems fishy is, since I started with Ad Intent, I’ve gotten a bunch of Draft Orders that look almost identical. One low cost item with a slightly different variant on each one. What’s THAT all about???

Anyway, sorry for the rant and the long post. I don’t know what else to do to get some actual sales. I certainly can’t spend thousands of dollars on ads that bring in nothing! I also can’t afford to pay thousands for SEO companies who make big promises and also deliver nothing! I’ve also tried learning SEO on my own but can’t find a good course that makes sense. I’m the type of person that needs to learn from square one, so I can understand the simple basics first. How do people learn SEO in the first place? Are there online college courses? What else can you suggest for me to find actual paying customers?

I thought our questions were going to be answered by some “expert”. I’m not seeing any answers, how long does it usually take?
