As I’m not a US citizen, and have yet to get a Tax ID number, is there a way for me to accept payments?
Hi there @sexyberry !
Thanks for reaching out here in the Shopify Community to share your query.
Generally speaking, payment gateways will require some form of identification from you and will often need a type of tax registration number depending on where they are and their specific processes.
If you can confirm where in the world your store would be based (presumably here you’re looking for info on the USA), we can share a list of gateways available there so you can check out the options available to you where you are.
In the meantime, you could look into taking manual payments from your customers as outlined here on our help site.
This would allow you to take payments like bank transfers, money orders, or Cash on Delivery.
Could you let me know a bit more about what you’re selling and what stage of development your business it at?
If you can confirm for me here where your store is based, we can check out the options available to you there in terms of payment gateways so you can make an informed choice.
Hi @sexyberry
It seems like you’d like to use Shopify Payment to accept payment, right? In order to set up Shopify Payments, you need to enter your Tax ID, SSN, or SIN. If you don’t have it or don’t meet the requirements to use Shopify Payment, you can consider using some third-party payment providers such as Paypal, Stripe, etc to accept payments from customers.
Hope this helps.
hello, why there is no stripe option for the US market?
Hi,i am an international student in the US and I don’t have an SSN to setup Shopify Payments, will be okay if i open a LLC?
