How can I add a gift card option and message in the cart using Dawn?

Hello!! I am using dawn. I want to add gift card option at the cart and not shown as a product. I also want to be able to add message on gift card.

That’s a great question.

To provide the best advice possible, let me understand your idea better. Am I correct to say you don’t want to sell gift cards, but give the option of a written gift note in case the customer is buying for someone else?

If yes, that’s a great option to have! Let me take you through the steps.

  1. Enable the ‘Cart Notes’ in the theme editor. Here is a step-by-step tutorial on enabling notes.
  2. Go back to Online Store > Themes and click on ‘Actions’ and then ‘Edit Languages’
  3. Within Languages, you will be able to edit all pre-existing phrases that your template automatically uses. To edit the cart message, click on ‘Cart.’
  4. Scroll down to the ‘Note’ line. There you can change what the message says. For example: “Is this a gift? Enter a special message for the recipient here.” But you can write whatever you want as long as it’s clear that it’s for a gift message. Finally, click ‘Save’.

And it’s as simple as that! Now your customers will be able to write a gift message if they buy your product as a gift for their friends!
