How can I add a pet chew insurance option at checkout?

I have a sort of unique question I was hoping someone could help me out with.

Our company sells a variety of pet related products, I wanted to add an option once a customer adds an item to their cart or once they reach checkout to add some sort of “Chew Insurance” where the cost of this insurance would be 30% of their total order value and if the customer had any sort of damages to the product caused by their pet, then we would send a new one out free of charge.

I can not seem to find a way to make this happen or any third party app that offers something similar to this. Anyone have any suggestions?

You can try a checkbox on product page and write your message for why this button is available.

Now, if someone wants insurance then they can tick the box and a hidden product whose cost you can decide accordingly and will add to cart along with original product.

This seems legitimate and I think can be doable on product page.

That would be an awesome fix! Do you know if this would have to be coded in manually, if there is some sort of add on for this or if its a standard function we can add onto shopify?

We just need to code it manually according to your theme code.

I did once for Impulse theme and added a product that was free for certain product.

On adding that product you’ll get two products in the cart.
