How can I add new fonts to my online store?

Hi, I am trying to add new fonts to my shopify store but I can’t figure out how to do it. Can anyone help?

Adding custom fonts is something we would not recommend, however it is possible. Some fonts, especially scripts, are harder to read, especially on mobile where the lighting isn’t always ideal, so this customization would not be supported by us. With that being said it is possible to do but calling in a custom font for theme settings requires a good deal of custom code.

To add some custom fonts, you can hire a Shopify expert for a custom job such as this. Alternatively, we have a couple of apps here on our app store to help you with this job if you wanted to check them out! One which is popular, and I might recommend is Fontify - check it out here! With this app, you can upload custom fonts and the app will take care of the rest. It is free to install, and then they charge $10 for the first 15 custom fonts (Google fonts will be free), and the 16th font will be $5 for next 10 fonts.

  1. To add new fonts to the Assets folder of your theme, navigate to your Shopify dashboard. From here, go to: Online Store > Actions > Edit Code.
  2. Scroll down till you find the Assets folder and click add a new asset, select your font file, and hit upload asset.

Thank you! I have a little experience with coding but it is very minor. I have tried multiple things and it just hasn’t worked. I am a graphic designer so I understand what fonts work well in certain situations and what fonts don’t. I will check out that app.
