Hi everyone, I feel like this is a simple thing that i am over looking… All i want to do is let customers choose the color of a shirt and the color of the design on that shirt. So 2 options for one shirt. I assume this is possible.

Ryder here, from the Social Care Team at Shopify. Welcome to the Community and thanks for posting! You are correct - adding multiple product variants is possible. In fact, you can have up to 100 variants per product.
Each product can have up to three options, which means you’re able to add an option for the shirt’s color and another option for the design’s color. How many colors do you have for each option? Would you also be needing to add the shirt sizes?
To add a product variant, you’ll need to go to the Products section of your Admin and click on the Add a product button in the top right corner.
After filling out the necessary fields, you’ll want to scroll down to the Variants section at the bottom of the page, and check the “This product has multiple options, like different sizes or colors” box:
This will populate fields for you to input options. As mentioned previously, you can have up to 100 variants per product, so the number of options will depend on this. For example, with only two options here, I’ve reached the maximum variants with 10 shirt colors and 10 graphic colors. Adding an eleventh gave me an error:
When I used three options here, I reached the limit with six shirt colors, five graphic colors, and three sizes:
Ultimately this will depend on how many variants you have of each option. If you require over 100 variants per product, you may be interested in a third-party app that provides you with more flexibility. Infinite product options is a popular app choice for this purpose. Since these apps are third-party, you’ll need to contact the app developers for support regarding them.

Can you have multiple design choices for one shirt with multiple color options/design color? i.e. a black/white shirt with black or white design for dog, cat, bird, horse, etc.?

If you’re looking to include more intricate options, we have a number of handy apps in the Shopify App Store for this. Some of the more popular apps include Infinite Options by ShopPad Inc., Infinite Product Options by HulkApps.com, and Bold Product Options by BOLD. My colleague personally uses the Infinite Options app and recommends it.

Hello @THCo , Have you got the solution? As you want your customer to choose the colorof a shirt and the color of the design on that shirt then it can be done with the Inkybay app.

While you can set up your product options using Shopify’s default features, there are limitations on the number of options and variants you can create per product. Additionally, you may find that there aren’t many choices available to display your options in an appealing way.
