@Dan664 - your theme will have a custom 404 template and you can view this page in customize settings or accessing non-existing/non public url on browser
You can view your current 404 page by trying to access a non-existent page on your website or by typing in a URL that does not exist on your website. This will trigger the 404 error and display your current 404 page.
To customize your 404 page for customers and SEO, here are some best practices:
Go to your Online store → Actions → Edit Languages
In the Filter translations search bar, type “404”.
Under the Errors section, click on “404 Not Found Page”.
Edit the content of the 404 page to your liking using the rich text editor. You can add images, text, links, and even custom code if you are comfortable with it.
Save your changes.
Hope this can help. Let us know if you need any further assistance.
Can anyone following this thread explain why my theme’s custom 404 page is not being used? It’s a full-blown web page, but forcing a 404 error pulls up a web page whose entire contents are “Not Found”. (no HEAD, BODY, etc.)
Unfortunately our theme doesn’t include any ability to change existing content or add new blocks. Only has header and footer blocks. So it looks like we’re unable to change this page.
Hi,
There are two ways to improve the user experience by handling 404 pages.
One is to design content under the 404 page as you said, so that even if the user clicks in and sees 404, they will be attracted by your content.
This method requires the ability to develop pages.
One is to automatically jump to the normal page when the user clicks on 404.
This method can be achieved using the Shopify redirect app. SEOAnt ‑ 404 Link Redirect is recommended, which can automatically jump 404 to the normal page.
