Shopify merchants handling local pickup orders—especially for seasonal items like holiday florals or subscription boxes—are frustrated by the lack of a native bulk notification feature. Currently, each order must be individually marked “Ready for Pickup” and notified, a time-consuming process involving multiple page loads and clicks.
Current Workarounds:
Shopify Plus users: Automate notifications using Shopify Flow when order status changes
Third-party apps: Several solutions mentioned including Gizmo: Bulk Pickup Manager, DC Preorders app, and Parcel Panel Order Tracking—all allow bulk marking and automated customer notifications
Manual alternative: Export ready orders to CSV and send batch emails via platforms like Klaviyo
Community Sentiment:
Multiple users express frustration that this isn’t a standard Shopify feature, noting it’s common functionality on other e-commerce platforms. Some merchants report managing hundreds of monthly pickup orders, making the manual process particularly burdensome during peak periods.
Status: The issue remains unresolved as a native Shopify feature. Merchants must either adopt paid third-party apps or implement manual workarounds to efficiently notify customers in bulk.

We offer holiday floral centerpieces to preorder and pick up at our floral department. The floral centerpieces are usually all prepared and ready for pick up on the same day. I would like to be able to bulk select all the preorders and send the customers a notification that they are ready to pick-up instead of going to each order individually and marking ready for pick-up. Is there a way to do this?
Why is shopify ignoring this? This is crazy, hundreds of monthly and holiday pick-up boxes and I have to spend all day going one-by-one digging then out of the shipping orders, then clicking EACH order, (waiting 5-7 seconds for Shopify’s dramatic fancy page load), then clicking on “Ready for pickup”, which takes me to another page, where I must click “Send pickup notification”, which then re-loads the order page when done. Then I have to click back, usually twice to get back to the list of order (another dramatic fancy page load), then I have to find the next order with local pickup and repeat.
WHAT ON EARTH KIND OF NONSENSE IT THIS??? All other shopping platforms that I worked with make anything that’s common between orders into a bulk action item. The waste of time is undue and extremely annoying -not to mention expensive and difficult to manage at a time when we expect many people to come and pickup within a narrow window of time. FIX IT ALREADY!!! We have been talking about this for years
Yes, definitely. We have a custom app that can do this. Please email me here: hello@achieveapplabs so I can provide you with our pricing and get some basic info from you to get started.
The app is simple and minimal, focusing solely on enabling users to notify customers in bulk when their orders are ready for pickup and to track all previously picked-up orders. We hope this is useful for the community.
Shopify’s standard local pickup flow doesn’t currently have a bulk “Ready for Pickup” notification feature — each order must be updated individually.
If you want to speed up the process, there are three workarounds:
Shopify Flow – On Shopify Plus, you can automate the notification when an order is marked ready for pickup.
Order Management Apps – Tools like OrderlyPrint or EZ Notify allow bulk status changes and notifications.
Export + Email Tool – Export the ready-for-pickup orders to a CSV, then use an email platform (e.g., Klaviyo) to send the notice to all customers at once.
This ensures every preorder customer is informed without manually updating each one.
Hi, If you’re still struggling to notify customers about ready-for-pickup orders, you can try Parcel Panel Order Tracking to see if it can help in your situation.
Parcel Panel can sync shipping status and info from Shopify. Then ParcelPanel can sync with these delivery updates and trigger notifications automatically. If your orders are recognized and marked as status “ready for pickup”, it can then automatically send notifications to customers in bulk, letting them know their packages are ready. In this case, it can save you some manual work. See details about this feature: Ready for Pickup Order Status. If you find it helpful, you can try it for free for 30 days.
I know how frustrating this can be — Shopify’s default local pickup flow only allows you to notify customers one order at a time, which quickly becomes unmanageable when you’re dealing with dozens (or hundreds) of pickups in a day.
Manage multiple pickup orders at once in your Shopify admin.
Bulk-mark them as “Ready for Pickup” in just a couple of clicks.
Automatically notify all selected customers with the standard pickup notification (no copy/paste, no missed customers).
Keep everything fully integrated with Shopify’s order status and notifications, so there’s no extra setup or learning curve.
This way, you can go from spending 30+ minutes clicking through orders individually… to finishing the same task in seconds.
If you’ve been running into this limitation, give Gizmo a try — it was built specifically for Shopify merchants who rely on in-store pickup and need a simple, reliable, bulk workflow.
Happy to answer any questions here if you want to know how it works or if it’s a good fit for your setup!
You can’t bulk notify directly in Shopify, but you can automate it. If you’re on Shopify Plus, use Shopify Flow to trigger pickup emails when order status changes. Otherwise, apps like Gizmo: Bulk Pickup Manager let you mark multiple orders as ready and notify customers at once. A quick workaround is exporting ready-for-pickup orders and sending batch emails via Klaviyo.
