How can I cancel my trial subscription before it ends?

Hello, I forgot to close my store before my trial ends and I can’t pay it. I’m just trying shopify out for future use and found it useful. I’m still currently building my products and hopefully start my own shopify shop soon. Your help would help me a lot.

I understand you signed up to a free 14-day trial and you now wish to cancel your subscription, is that correct? I am sorry to hear that! However, I do appreciate the fact that sometimes the timing to start paying for a subscription is not always ideal.

If you selected a plan and added a payment method to your account, then you may have been automatically charged for the first month subscription after you went past the 14 days. Can you confirm if that is the case?

If you have not yet selected a plan and haven’t added a payment method to your account, then you can safely let the free trial expire and you won’t be charged for the store. When you do decide to come back to the store, you can log in and then select a plan and add a payment method.

In either case, I would suggest reaching out to our support team here. Here on the community forums we have no account access, however if you reach out to us through that link above, we can authenticate you and take a closer look at your account. If you explain your situation to our team, we can do our best to help you get accommodated during this time.

Many thanks for the private message. I understand you are wondering how to be connected with a support advisor using my link above. If it is OK with you, I will explain how to do so here so that it may be beneficial to others also.

  1. When you click the contact support link here, you will first need to login and select the store that you require assistance with.
  2. You will then see a page that has a search box on it. You will need to search for a topic here to proceed - feel free to enter something like ‘free trial’ and click Search.
  3. The search results page will present you with several articles related to your search topic. Feel free to check them out, however as you want to speak to an advisor, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and click Continue (underneath where it says Get Support).
  4. On the next page you will be presented with the various contact options such as live chat. Please note that phone callback may not always be available.
