I’m trying to change the variant name of the first one from “colour” to “metal”. If I do change name through the products page, the swatch images will not show. Is there anyway to change just the first variant name

I’m not formally trained in code to provide you with an exact solution to solve your third-party theme not allowing for the variant name to be changed without removing the variant swatches. However, I’m confident one of our Shopify experts would be able to accomplish this at a reasonable price.
Alternatively, I would recommend contacting the developer of your theme as they would have insight as to how their theme code behaves and what can be done to allow for that variant name to be changed.
Just wanted to share this as an option in case you are unable to find a coding solution in your thread.
