How can I correct my age on my Shopify account?

Hello, My name is Ryan Spaulding and I’m 17 years old. I need to verify my Shopify account to get payments.

I accidentally put my birth date as 03, meaning I’m 18 years old and now it is asking for a picture of my drivers license, I’m not sure how to go back so my mom can input her information and put her drivers license number.

As noted in our Terms of Service, you must be 18 or at least the age of majority in the jurisdiction where you reside (whichever is older), in order to open a Shopify account. Because of this, as you mentioned, your mom or another trusted adult will need to be in charge of your Shopify account and have the account registered under their name.

In order to change the name and information associated with your Shopify Payments account, you will need to contact our live support team. We’re available 24/7, and when it comes to reaching out to our live Support line, I’ll provide some steps here to make it easier.

  1. Head over to this link: Contact Shopify Support · Shopify Help Center
  2. Log in (recommended) or Continue without logging in
  3. Select the support topic that best suits your inquiry (such as Account or Store settings)
  4. Scroll down to where it says Get support and select one of the available support options

You’ll then be connected with a Support Advisor who can work with our Shopify Payments team to get your account adjusted.
