I want to create a new product listing which is essentially two products bundled together for a discount. So buying the bundled product is £5 cheaper than buying the two items separately. The individual listings come in 8 colours each - the bundled listing needs these same 8 colour variations. If a customer buys the bundle, the backend needs to show this as the two individual products so the warehouse can pick the individual items. Can Shopify do this natively or do I need an app? If the latter any app recommendations? Thanks

Shopify doesn’t have native functionality for bundles so you need to either use a theme based app or backend one like we offer. Theme based ones will add the individual components to your cart along with a discount code for the bundle. Backend ones will only show the bundle in cart.
What you can do is set up the bundle with colour option or 2 if you need that for both components. You then bundle each variation up with their components. There are 3 points to consider:
1. Inventory Management
Our bundle app lets you connect up all your products to correct SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level.
2. Fulfilment of Bundles
If you only pack the single items and don’t have prepacked bundles then you may want to fulfil against the component SKUs. What Bundleup does is update the order post purchase a bundle order line will change to the component order lines.
3. Bulk Set Up
If you are dealing with variations there are a lot to go through and set up so rather than doing them one by one we offer a bulk CSV file upload solution to automate the process and reduce the time it takes to set up. This also lets you update bundles easier if you ever need to change them.

I’m afraid you can’t do this with Shopify natively due to its limitations. You can use a third-party app like ours.
To do this, you would first need to create a dummy bundle product in Shopify.
Under ‘Options’, you can do the following:
Option name 1: Product name
Option values: All 8 color variations
Option name 2: Product name
Option values: All 8 color variations

The bundle inventory is automatically set based on the available inventories of the bundle item(s), including the inventories of the variants.
Proper quantity will also be taken out of the inventory of each bundle that is being purchased.

Henry here, from Seal Subscriptions app. I stumbled upon your question here and thought I might be able to provide a useful insight into this, as our app is integrated with one of the most popular bundling apps out there, the Bundler - Product Bundles app (https://apps.shopify.com/bundler-product-bundles ).
I would recommend you to use the Bundler app for that, as it automatically creates a landing page for each bundle. This means that you won’t have to do this manually, on your own.
But if you want more freedom, you could use the bundle shortcodes and create your own, custom landing page for your bundle 
Overall, it might be worth trying it out, as Bundler comes with a free plan.
