How can I find the URL of my online store?

Topic summary

A user is trying to locate their Shopify store URL and understand how to share it with others.

Finding the Store URL:

  • Log into Shopify admin and check the address bar for “STORENAME.myshopify.com/admin”
  • Remove “/admin” and everything after it to get the base URL: “STORENAME.myshopify.com”
  • For custom domains, navigate to Settings > Domains in the Shopify admin

Sharing the Store:

  • Share “STORENAME.shopify.com” (replacing STORENAME with actual store name) with customers
  • The “edit” button that appears at the bottom when copying the URL is only visible to logged-in Shopify account holders
  • Customers visiting the shared link won’t see this edit option unless they’re logged into the store’s Shopify account
  • To preview the customer view, log out completely or use a private/incognito browser window

Status: The question appears resolved with clear instructions provided for both finding and sharing the store URL.

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.
  2. Look in the URL address bar at the top of the screen. You should see something like STORENAME.myshopify.com/admin. (“STORENAME” is an example-- it should be something different depending on how you set up your Shopify account)
  3. Remove /admin (and anything after it) so you are left with STORENAME.myshopify.com.
  4. This is your base Shopify URL.

If you would like to take a look at any other domains you have set up, go to Settings > Domains in the Shopify admin.

So do I just copy the link and put it in a bio or something?
or do I just share the link?

I think I’m confused on what you mean. If you are wanting to share your website with others, you can tell them to visit STORENAME.shopify.com (replace STORENAME with your store) and they should be able to visit your website.

If you are logged in to Shopify, and you visit your store URL, you will probably see a banner with something like “edit store page” on the bottom. This is because Shopify knows you’re logged in so it gives you the ability to edit for convenience, instead of having to go back through your admin and find what you need to change.

Aside from the “edit button”, there shouldn’t be any other difference. When you share the link with other people, they will not see the “edit” button (unless they are your employee or otherwise logged in to your account-- if you haven’t shared your Shopify account password, this shouldn’t be an issue). You can see what customers see by logging out completely and visiting your site, or by visiting your site in a private mode window, like Incognito Mode on Chrome.
