How can I import a corrected email subscriber list?

My customer list was corrupted, and everyone became a subscriber. I have the corrected list of true subscribers, and I need to know how to import it so that all folks who are not actually subscribed become unsubscribed.

Hi, @atlanticfine .

You have a couple of different options that will allow you to edit your customer list:

  1. Using the Bulk editor: If you navigate to the Customers page on your Shopify admin, you can tick the checkboxes of the customers whose information you’d like to edit. From there, click on the ‘Edit customers’ button, and you’ll be taken to the bulk editor where you can change your customers’ marketing preference in bulk, as seen on the image below. Take a look at our bulk editor shortcuts here too, to help you bulk edit quicker.

  2. Use CSV to import your customer list: If you have a large number of customers on your list, then importing the changes you need to make using a CSV file will perhaps be the better option. You can firstly export your current customer list from the Shopify admin, then make the appropriate changes on the customer CSV file before uploading it back onto Shopify. You can find the description of the different headings on the CSV file on our help guide here – the column you’ll want to pay particular attention to is the Accepts email marketing column, and you can input ‘no’ for customers that you wish to unsubscribe from your list.

Once your CSV file is ready to upload, make sure you tick the checkbox that says Overwrite existing customers, as seen on the image below, so that your import won’t result in duplicate customers.

Apart from this customer list query, is there anything else you’re currently working on for your store?
