Hi, I recently set up a general store getgeneral2023.myshopify.com and i was wondering if anybody was able to give me any advice on how i can improve my store and to get my first sale. I have set up a google ad trying to direct traffic to my store, so far i have had 29 clicks but none of those clicks have resulted in any sales
Hi there,
Congratulations on launching your store! Getting those first sales can indeed be challenging, but with some strategic tweaks, you’ll be on your way to success. One of the first steps you could take is to consider securing a custom domain name for your store, rather than relying on the default myshopify.com address. This small investment can make a big difference.
Having a custom domain not only helps with your brand identity but also can positively impact your SEO rankings. Plus, customers often perceive stores with dedicated domain names as more professional and trustworthy, which can increase their likelihood to purchase. You can easily purchase a domain from services like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or even directly through Shopify, which will seamlessly integrate with your store.
Remember, the journey to your first sale is also about testing and learning what works best for your store and audience. Keep an eye on your traffic and customer behavior, and continue to refine your approach. Best of luck with your sales!
Hi @GetGeneral2023 ,
This is Kate from PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.
I’m genuinely impressed, especially knowing you’re just starting out. Your site has a stylish flair while remaining clean and clear. I understand that experiencing slow traffic can be frustrating. From my CRO expertise, I’d love to give you my suggestions to improve your conversion rates:
1. Have a favicon for your store
You should add the Favicon to your store. Favicons are of great importance to the overall effect of your website’s imagery, improving its user experience, branding, and professionalism. Its main purpose is to help visitors locate your page easier when they have multiple tabs open. You can check this Shopify Guideline to add a favicon.
2. Use Sticky Header and resize your header
Having a sticky header means that the navigation, logo, and icons will follow the user while they scroll down the page. This is really useful if you want to ensure that your customers will have easy access to your navigation at all times.
Besides that, You should also resize your header by the way rearranging the position of the main paths, logo,…etc to make the header smaller. If your header is quite large, when customers scroll down the page, Some product information may be obscured. You should choose some main paths to navigation. If you put too much, it will make it difficult for viewers to observe.
3. Have a Hero banner section
The hero banner is often the first thing visitors see when they land on your website, so it’s essential to make a great first impression. Your hero banner can be an image or video relevant to your product with high resolution and include a Header, Subheader, and CTA button.
You can use this Hero Banner instead of using large quantities of text as the page currently.
4. Add Testimonials section to your homepage to gain more trustworthy
Testimonials are an essential component of any successful Shopify store. It provides social proof, builds credibility, and influences potential customers’ purchasing decisions.
5. Get prepared for the upcoming shopping holiday events
With BFCM and Christmas just around the corner, now is the time to start preparing your store. Here are a few tips:
Update your website with a festive theme. This will help to create an inviting and celebratory atmosphere for visitors.
Offer discounts and promotions: This will create a sense of urgency and encourage impulse purchases.
Add countdown timers for limited-time offers and flash sales. This will create a sense of urgency and encourage customers to buy now.
