How can I improve sales and site speed for my online pet supply store?

Topic summary

A store owner launched lunarpaws.com selling pet supplies and is running Facebook ads (€0.07 CPC) to a specific product page (Pet Furr Rubber Broom), but experiencing zero sales and no cart additions despite decent traffic.

Main concerns:

  • No conversions despite reasonable ad costs
  • Suspected site speed issues (though not confirmed by others)

Key recommendations provided:

Product page improvements:

  • Add detailed product specifications and dimensions
  • Include a benefit bar highlighting top 3-5 product advantages
  • Implement cross-sell/upsell recommendations
  • Add urgency elements like countdown timers

Homepage enhancements:

  • Optimize hero section with autoplay slideshow (5-7 seconds)
  • Add social proof (testimonials, trust badges)
  • Include hover animations on buttons for better engagement
  • Consider adding discount codes to the announcement bar (currently only mentions free shipping)

One commenter questioned the ad spend amount and targeting strategy, suggesting technical store issues may not be the primary sales barrier. The discussion remains open with no clear resolution on the root cause of poor conversion.

Hello!

I recently launched my online store and if feel that it’s finished. Already did some ads no FaceBook. Getting good CPC ~ 0.07€. But I’m getting no sales, people are not even adding to cart. Want y’all opinion on what could be the problem. The store is lunarpaws.com, but the ads take them directly to product page.

I check that my speed isn’t that good for the store, but I already tried everything to fix it. Maybe y’all have some tips on also getting that better.

Thanks in advance

Carl

Hey @lagzdins55 .

Thanks for reaching out.

I appreciate the context that you have shared with us as that is very helpful! When I navigated to your online store product page and homepage, I did not experience any slow loading times. With that being said, if you suspect that your online store speed is slow - we do have a great article that goes into depth about improving your online store speed on Shopify that you may find useful.

While I was taking a look at your online store, I did notice that you are using the announcement bar to inform your customers of a free shipping offer. What do you think about including a discount code in the announcement to create more of a buyer incentive? It is a great way to get your visitors browsing through the available products and collections.

Additionally, you can make the homepage more engaging and interactive for your visitors by a slideshow as the first section under the header navigation menu. This can showcase more of your products and strengthen your brand. For example, you can include your best-seller or favorite product in the slides.

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions.

Hi @lagzdins55

I’m Garcia - CRO expert from PageFly - Page Builder. I’m passionate about helping online stores like yours skyrocket their growth. I’ve analyzed your store and identified some actionable CRO strategies that could significantly boost your conversion rate and sales:

Based on my review, I have some actionable suggestions for your Pet Furr Rubber Broom product page (the one you’re running ads for) and your homepage:

1. For the product page :

  • Boost product clarity with detailed specs: Add a clear and concise list of product specifications to address potential purchase hesitations. Think of key features, dimensions, compatibility, etc.
  • Highlight value with a benefit bar: Showcase the top 3-5 benefits of your product in a captivating bar at the top of the page. This instantly grabs attention and communicates value propositions.

Example:

  • Cross-sell and upsell effectively: Recommend related products that complement the current one. This increases average order value and encourages exploration.

Example:

  • Address common concerns with FAQs: Include a readily accessible FAQ section to preemptively answer potential customer questions and reduce purchase friction.
  • Leverage urgency with limited-time offers: If you’re running a sale, prominently display a catchy banner with countdown timer to create a sense of urgency and incentivize immediate purchases.

Example:

2. For homepage

  • Streamline the hero section: Optimize your slideshow with autoplay function to showcase your best offers or compelling product stories within 5-7 seconds. This is your first impression, make it count!
  • Build trust with social proof: Feature customer testimonials, social media mentions, or trust badges to reassure visitors and build confidence in your brand.

Example:

  • Enhance user interaction by adding a hover animation to your homepage button. This subtle responsiveness can improve user experience and make the call to action more engaging.

I hope these recommendations help you unlock your store’s full potential in 2024!

And final words: May all your dreams come true in 2024!

Cheers,
Garcia

How much have you spent till now and where? I don’t think technically store has anything to do with no sales, apart from few tweaks which won’t have any direct impact on sales.
