Hey friends, I need your help, and I am sure this has been asked plenty of times. I have searched through these boards, and haven’t found any information that has helped yet. I’ve had a few sales, but almost no traffic (averaging about 5 visitors/day). I am mostly just relying on Instagram posts and stories. I am starting to get a little bit of traction on Instagram, but still very little traffic making the jump from IG to my store. Facebook has generated zero engagement.
I feel like my store is set up well (I am sure that there is room for improvement though). I have posted here with similar questions before, and most of the responses I get suggest marketing to my email list (without traffic, I have no email list) or paying for ads, Shopify experts, etc. (without traffic/sales, I don’t have the budget to spend on these things). My issue is not that my visitors are not converting. My issue that I am not getting visitors to begin with. What do I do??? Any help, advice, suggestions, etc. that you can offer would be appreciated. Since I am certain that this is a common issue, I would appreciate all responses to be posted publicly so that others may benefit from the information too (please don’t message me privately). Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately, I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. Paid ads deffo pay off if they are done right, If you don’t have to have a massive budget, start small and scale. Youtube has some great tips.
I’m sorry to hear that but to truth marketing is very critical in e-commerce. In fact, you want to allocate most of your funds to Marketing and ads. If you spend most of your money on store setup, development, product research, and nothing is left on creating ads, then I suggest that you save more. Marketing has a huge impact on generating traffic to your store, so make sure that you prioritize this.

Customers trust Google Search more than Ads. You will get less sales and traffic if your products are not found on Google. When your customers search on Google, your product can be found only if Google has indexed the page. Once your product is found on Google, you don’t need to do a thing. Customers will keep finding your product day after day.

Up to 40% of paid ads are clicked by competitor bots, according to Adobe research. Also, SEO often promises the moon and delivers little. Every marketing channel demands more $$$, except one. Consumers trust Google and rely on it even more and are using at a rate that exceeds the growth of display and organic social. NO Agency fees, NO Pay-per-click, NO paid marketplaces. With flareAI, your site can access the world’s dominant Free eCommerce services in one Shopify App.
Congrats on the sales you’ve had so far! I have a couple general resources to help you with generating more traffic, but I want to dig into the specifics of your store as well.
Inevitably, paid ads will be mentioned in those resources, but there are plenty of free ways to drive traffic to your store, and those are covered too. On that note, I’d like to chat about what you’ve been doing already on the online store, Instagram, and Facebook.
I found your store link in one of your previous posts, so I’ve taken a look through the store as well as the Instagram and Facebook pages. Here’s what I think is working really well so far:
the About Us and Our Mission pages are passionate and help set you apart from other stores selling coffee and merchandise
images on Instagram and Facebook offer a consistent color palette, and that consistency can encourage new followers
use of relevant hashtags to help people find you
I see an opportunity in creating more “lifestyle” content. The brand’s mission, merchandise, and the quotes shared on social media are all centered around mindfulness and the coffee lifestyle, but I’m seeing way more stock photos and graphics than images of your product.
I want to be clear that there’s nothing wrong with using stock photos and creating graphics—these images can still be effective and clearly take time and effort to put together. This type of content can be more powerful when used sparingly in between your own product images.
Whether you already have inventory on hand or are dropshipping and need to place a sample order, I recommend getting the products in front of you and taking your own pictures. Look for the social media pages of local coffee roasters to get a sense of the content they post. What I’ve seen from similar businesses is mostly photos (and videos) of their own product, with a few graphics used in between (often when they’re announcing a collaboration, sale, or giveaway).
Another opportunity could be your own engagement on these social channels. If you’re able to interact with the accounts you follow by posting genuine comments, that may help others discover your store too.
The main focus here is on the social channels, because of course boosting engagement and followers there will help you get more eyes on your online store, but I want to touch on an opportunity for the website too. Have you considered starting a blog? You can write about your coffee ritual, favorite equipment, how to drink coffee mindfully, your travels, the organizations you donate to, and more. A blog will help build search engine optimization over time, and can help people find your website.
Let me know what you think about what I’ve mentioned here so far. Happy to continue the discussion any time!
If you are concerned about the issue of no visitors coming after setting up a store, I have summarized some ways based on SEO, and hope they can help you here in some ways.
Keyword Integration: Use SEO-friendly URLs and meta tags, focusing on keywords relevant to your products. For example, create product collections with titles matching your paid Ads campaigns to ensure consistency.
Content Marketing: Publish blogs and articles targeting common customer pain points (e.g., “How to Style Jewelry for Summer”). Shopify’s blog guidelines emphasize actionable, referenceable content to build authority and organic traffic.
Technical SEO: Ensure your store loads quickly and is mobile-friendly. Some Shopify app can enhance product visibility through customized search and filtering, such as SEOAnt.
Overall, you need to pay attention to the three things I mentioned above, and by following them properly, you will get traffic sooner or later. Also, you can click here to install SEOAnt and get a 30% discount (SEOAnt 30% Jeffery) for the first two months for better website optimization. I hope my answer helps you. Thank you!
