How can I manually import Mailchimp contacts into Shopify?

Since Mailchimp is now starting to charge a monthly fee if you have over 500 subscribers, I’m attempting to import my Mailchimp contacts into Shopify. I’ve tried uploading a CSV file, making sure all the headings are “allowed” and am still getting error messages like this-- “A header wasn’t accepted: accepts email marketing. Headers must match the list of accepted words.” I’ve contacted support and they haven’t been able to provide a solution. Anyone else having this issue? Is there any way to manually import contacts into Shopify? I just want to be able to send email newsletters occasionally. Thank you for any insight on this!

Hello @Rarepress ,

Here are a few steps you can try to check:

1. Check your CSV file format

2. Check the header names: Ensure that the header names in your CSV file match the accepted header names in Shopify. Make sure that the header name is “accepts_marketing” in your CSV file.

3. Remove unsupported columns

4. Manually import your contacts: If you only have a small number of contacts, you can manually import them into Shopify by adding them one by one through the Customers section in your Shopify admin panel.

Hope these can help. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

OneCommerce team.

I’ve tried everything and am still getting errors. I checked the CSV file format, checked the header names, removed unsupported columns. I used the exact language you mentioned here and got this error: “Some headers weren’t accepted: accepts_marketing and . Headers must match the list of accepted words.”

I have over 600 subscribers so manually isn’t going to work. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

I’m not sure what worked, but this time the file uploaded. Thanks for your help!
