Hello,
How do I change the product image google displays in search?
Google is displaying the second photo, which is a image of the back of a bag. I wish to display the first image which is the front of the bag.
I don’t have google merchant, I connected my shopify shop to google merchant and was immediately suspended due to misrepresentation. I have disconnected the two pages and removed all of my products from google merchant in the hope of starting fresh and having my account suspension lifted.
Most likely you did not check the policies, prior to setting up the Google Merchant Center account, and if you used the free Shopify app, it gives you a false assumption that the basic policies you add, are sufficient to get approved.
You should check my checklist and update all areas that need it: https://community.shopify.com/c/ecommerce-marketing/checklist-suspended-google-merchant-center-account-fix-amp/m-p/1086444/highlight/true#M39128
With regards to Images on Google, this has nothing to do with Google Shopping. Google Merchant Center is only for listing products on Web Search, Shopping Tab, and other areas where shopping listings are shown.
For images itself, this is most likely cached and you need to wait until Google re-fetches your images.
Thank you for the reply.
The reason I mentioned google merchant is because I spoke with shopify online chat and they said the reason for the photo issue was because of google merchant-I explained that I don’t have any products of google merchant anymore.
I understand my issue between google merchant and shopify and wish I hadn’t combined the two until I knew everything was ready and set up correctly.
Sorry to hear you received incorrect advice. I might recommend asking the community the same questions you ask Shopify before you apply changes. Generally, community members have real-world experience, which might help you avoid unintentional issues.
