How can I optimize Alt text for apartment images on my website?

Hey Everyone,
I’m currently facing an issue with the Alt text on my Shopify website. The text is not organized properly, and I’d like to structure it in the same format as another website, such as cat website that provide information. However, I haven’t optimized the Alt text for SEO yet. I’d like to check whether the Alt text is embedded in the code, and if it’s not, I’d appreciate guidance on how to incorporate it using JSON format. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi! Firstly you would want to check if the Alt Text is already embedded in your Shopify site. You can do this by:

  • Right-click on an image and choose “Inspect”.

  • In the HTML, check for the alt=“” attribute within the tag.

If it’s blank/not there, that means it is for you to update it.

If you want to specifically use the JSON format to incorporate it, you would need to dynamically set it via the theme liquid.

Have you tried any of the Alt Text Generator apps yet?

For apartment images, I’d start by thinking about what a person using a screen reader actually needs to know. Instead of just “apartment exterior” or keyword strings like “NYC apartment for rent,” go a bit more specific: “Brick apartment building exterior with three floors and street trees” or “Bright living room in two bedroom apartment with balcony and wooden floors.” That kind of natural sentence is better for accessibility and still gives you the right SEO signals.
