How can I prevent coupon code usage on a specific product?

Is there a way to set up a product that is not possible to apply coupon codes on?

I’m trying to offer a product at a very low price, so I would like to avoid customers using coupon codes on a product that is already really cheap.

Hi, @JulianVelez . I’m happy to help you out with this! Can you tell me more about the discounts you’ve set up?

You can set up which products and collections a discount applies to within your discount settings. If you’d like to exclude a product from a discount code you’d want to go to Discounts in your Shopify admin, select the discount you want to edit, and then use the Applies to setting to manage which products and/or collections the discount will work with. You can also do this when setting up a discount code for the first time.

Please let me know if you have any questions. This guide on discounts can help in the meantime as well.

Hello Erin, Thank you very much for your answer.

This is definitely one way to do it and it will work on my case. My issue would be that we have a lot of discounts available that we offer on our emails, website, social media, etc. So using this method I would have to modify every discount active to exclude just want product for a couple of days and then set them back once the sale is done.

This being said, Is there any way to do it backward? Can I go into the specific product and set it up in a way that nobody can use a discount code during checkout?

Thanks in advance

Hi, @JulianVelez . Thanks for all of that context!

I can understand how that can be a lot of work and I’m happy to pass your feedback about it on to our team who look into improvements we can make. At the moment it’s not possible to manage this from an individual product page, but there still may be a way to reduce the amount of work you need to do. Can you tell me more about how you’ve set up the “applies to” setting for your current discounts? For example, are you using the “specific collections” or “specific products” option? If you are using the “specific collections” option, do you use manual collections or automated collections?

Happy to look into this further with more information!
