Suggested troubleshooting steps:
- Check the footer.liquid file for unnecessary brackets or text in the HTML code
- Inspect CSS for content properties that might be adding symbols through pseudo-elements (::before or ::after)
- Review translation files for leftover brackets in translation keys or values
- Examine theme.liquid file at the bottom for extra }} symbols or sections showing red error messages
- Clear Shopify cache after making changes
Primary solution: Multiple responders recommended navigating to Actions > Edit code > layout > theme.liquid, locating the brackets at the bottom of the file, and deleting them.
Note: Some responses contain reversed/garbled text, but the core troubleshooting advice focuses on checking theme files and removing erroneous code from the footer section.
Hey @lorypez ,
It appears that there are brackets displayed at the bottom of your website, likely due to a template or CSS issue. Here are a few ways to troubleshoot and resolve this:
-
Check Footer Liquid Code: Open your theme files and go to the footer.liquid or any custom section file used for the footer. Look for any unnecessary brackets or text in the HTML that may be causing this.
-
Inspect CSS: Sometimes, CSS content properties can mistakenly add symbols or text. Open the website in your browser’s developer tools (usually by right-clicking and selecting “Inspect” or pressing F12). Check if there’s any CSS ::before or ::after pseudo-element with content that includes brackets.
-
Remove Brackets from Translation Files: If your theme uses translation files, check for any leftover brackets in translation keys or values. These might sometimes get overlooked.
-
Clear Cache: If you’ve made any changes, clear your Shopify cache or refresh the page to see the latest updates.
If you need specific guidance based on the code, please share the footer section or relevant parts of your theme code.

Hi @lorypez
You can go to theme.liquid, scroll down to the bottom, and check for any errors.
Look for:
- Extra }} symbols.
- Any sections showing a red error message.
If you find any, delete them. If that doesn’t solve the issue, please take a screenshot of that part, and I’ll help you further.
Best,
Daisy
Hi @lorypez ,
Please go to Actions > Edit code > layout > theme.liquid file. You can find it at the bottom of the file, just remove it, everything will display fine
