Our Shopify was cloned. The clone is real-time. Any change we make immediately shows up. After a full day on the phone with Shopify techs, they only point to apps, registrars, hosting companies, etc, none of which have been able to take the clone down. Does anyone know how?
This is really something for the hosting (the service hosting the domain, domain registrar, etc) company to take care of for you. I can’t advise much here as I don’t know the site you’re talking about. I’ve seen this before (and we’re talking all sorts of platforms not just Shopify) and the advice you’re getting from the support team here sounds right.
Who is the domain host and the domain registrar in this case?
This won’t help for the removal, but could be a path to take if you thinks it’s done with malicious intent.
Now depending on what that other site is doing it’s not impossible for you to add code to your current site to do something on the copied one. Such as a redirection to the real site, hiding content, etc. I would note that the more sophisticated versions of this are smart enough to notice that code (and remove it on the fly) so might not do anything.
Thanks all. A solution was discovered on this thread.
