How can I schedule product price increases effectively?

We will be announcing a price increase for all our products to go into effect on 15 October. So I want to be able to program the new pricing to take effect on 12AM October 15. This will prevent us from having to do the price increases for the entire product line (190 products) on the evening of 14 October. Is there an app for this or can it be done within Shopify?

Thanks

You could export your products to csv, then edit the prices there, then just upload the csv when you’re ready for the price changes to happen. Then it’s just 1 quick action.

If that’s not feasible, and you don’t find an app to do this, send me a pm. I’ve been playing with a script in one of our apps that does scheduled changes like this, I can probably make it happen for you, just need to get a couple details.

Thanks for the recommendation, I can create the csv file but do not know how to upload that file to my site, that I would need help with. Besides sku# and price, what other column information should there be in the csv file?

Is it possible to run a test, meaning once the csv file is uploaded and the “switch” is turned on, if there is a problem can the “switch” be turned off or reverted back to the original pricing giving more time to fix the problem if there is one?

This guide will show you: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/import-export/import-products

For a test, you could upload the new csv, then if things aren’t how you expect them, you can just reupload the original csv to revert back (make sure you export your products first, actually this is a good practice to do once a month or every once in awhile if you don’t upload products often).

Hi, @scalemotorsport !

Thanks for reaching out in our Community forums and sharing your concern. I’m happy to help.

As discussed in this thread, exporting and importing your products CSV is a great and efficient way to achieve your price increases. I’d always recommend creating multiple copies of your csv file just in case you would need to revert your changes. Feel free to check out our guide on Importing products with a CSV file to learn more about how to get started.

On the other hand, you can use an app for a more automated solution. While we have many options on our App Store, you can check out the Bulk Price Editor/Price Change app which allows you to easily change the price of any amount of products at once. You can also set price increases to be performed at a future date and revert any changes back to normal. If you have any questions about the apps, or need a hand setting them up, feel free to reach out to the developers directly as they could provide some more information.

Another solution would be to speak with Shopify Experts. This is a marketplace that connects you to professionals and will allow you to outline your exact requirements to create a tailored solution. If you’d like to know more about finding the right Expert, please click here.

I’d love to know more about your business! Does your customer base know about these increases? Have you thought about adding a discount code to help with any potential lost sales due to pricing?

Feel free to reply back to this thread with any questions or updates and we can continue our conversation further!

Hello,

My name is Alison, I’m the Customer Success Specialist for Ablestar apps. I apologize for the late reply on this, but if you are still looking for an app to schedule sales, our Bulk Product Editor app may help.

The Bulk Product Editor is capable scheduling edits, and then also scheduling the ‘undo’ of that edit. If you have any questions about the app you can reach out to us directly at support@ablestar.com.

Best,

Alison
