How can I set up a 3 for 2 promotion in my online store?

Hii :waving_hand: , I need to do 3 for 2 promotion in my shopify store, basically when a customer buys 3 items from a specific selected department, the customer automatically gets the cheapest product for free. can someone kindly guide me? Thank you!

I think this should be relatively straightforward. It would go something like this:

  1. In Shopify admin go to Discount and Create Discount
  2. Click on “Buy X get Y” as the type of discount
  3. On the next screen (where you set up the discount), select Automatic Discount and give it a descriptive title (e.g. “3 for 2 on all hats”)
  4. In the Customer Buys section, put the quantity as 2 and then select the collection or products for which the discount applies (e.g. hats).
  5. In the Customer Gets section, put the quantity as 1 and then, again, select the collection or products for which the “free” item applies (e.g. hats again). Select “Free” as the discount value.
  6. If you want to use this in your physical store, make sure you tick that box in the Availability section.
  7. Change any of the Combination or Active Dates parameters as necessary.
  8. Click “Save Discount” and you should be all set.

For a Buy 3, Get the Cheapest Product Free promotion, using Shopify discount can’t apply the discount to a wide range of products and automatically detect and discount the cheapest one.

==> A better solution is to use the “Discount on Cheapest/Most expensive Item” feature created by BOGOS: Free Gift Bundle Upsell app (free plan available):

  • Apply this offer to many product types or a specific department.

=> For example, let customers add 3 random products from your 6 chosen items, then they will automatically get the cheapest product for free.

  • You also can set how many products customers must buy to get the discount and how many products are discounted. Even create tiers if you want (e.g., Buy 3 get 2 cheapest free; Buy 6, get 3 cheapest free).
