Is there a way or an app that lets you get over the 100 variant limit? I sell phone cases and every year the new models come out. It’s really been hard to fit everything in. I know there are the infinite option apps but I really don’t want to have to create an extra drop down box to my products just to show the iPhone 13 options. The only solution I’ve seen is to create another product and merge it together? Shopify really needs to raise this limit.

At this time, our 100-variant limit per product is in place and this cannot be exceeded when creating variants in the Products section of the Shopify admin. Your best workaround is currently to use apps such as Bold Product Options, or the Infinite Options app you referenced, as these apps allow you to better customize your products and offer a wider variety of options to customers.
In cases where you want to have 100+ options for a product, having a drop-down prevents the product page from becoming too cluttered and allows your customers to more easily select exactly what variant combination they want for the product. I would recommend using one of these apps if you wish to offer a large number of variant options to customers; alternatively you can also look at splitting the product into two products or more so that the options for each are below 100.

For my products, I already have a drop down for Phone Model and Colour. With the iPhone 13 range of phones released, I have to add 4 more phone models for the same colour, but have this 100 variant limit stopping it from happening. If I use infinite options or bold product options, it will add an additional drop down box, but it will not match with my product page. Hard to describe it but what name would I give this new drop down box? Phone Model 2? But they’ll have to choose something from the original Phone Model drop down too. The solution doesn’t solve my issue as there’s only 2 differentiating options for my products, the phone model and the colour.

No, you’d try and have them outright replace a primary drop down box either ‘Phone Model’ or ‘Colour’ as long as said app is able to tie everything back together to a sku,etc for your fulfillment process.

If the colors do not impact the price, or your skus , make them into line item properties instead.

Flat product data
Otherwise without an app segment those skus into different products either based on model or based on the colour.
Then let customers navigate amongst those product lines through a collection.

The information @PaulNewton has provided above should help. The apps I’ve recommended in my prior post should replace the drop-downs you have already and allow customers to easily choose the variant combinations they want. I’d recommend giving them a go so you can play around with them and view them on your own storefront.

I am currently using Infinite Options on my store to work around the 100 variant limit. But now I am running into issues because I cannot assign each variant it’s own SKU. Ie whatever variants are covered by the Infinite Options app do not have their own SKU data field.
Do you know of a way that I can exceed the 100 variants, while also being able to add SKUs to each?
