How can we implement custom door orders on Shopify?

We want to offer our custom doors via shopify, but its not as simple as picking some options and hitting add to cart. There is a significant amount of information needed from each customer regarding door measurements, weight limits, etc. Its not information that could even be provided to product a price instantly. What is the best way to utilize our existing shopify store to allow customers to put in custom orders?

Typically we have customers fill out a form that gauges their interest in door style and finish and find out if they are replacing existing doors or if they’re being installed new. From there they likely need to speak to a customer service rep before we send an order form. Surely there is a more advanced way of doing this using shopify???

Any suggestions welcomed!!!

Maybe offer the customers to contact you directly to discuss all the details?

You can attach a link to a google form to your account and ask the customers to fill it in to get more information. Or offer them to contact you via e-mail to provide you with additional details and maybe pictures.
When I ordered interior doors for my house, I also had a long talk with the manufacturer to make sure I got exactly what I needed and what I wanted. The purchase was not only linked to their website belldinni.com, but I used e-mail and phone conversations to explain exactly my plans and desires. I think it was worth it because my order was made correctly.

Quite impressive. Thanks.

I see it’s been a while, but I wanted to chime in. Have you considered creating a custom order form within Shopify? You could include all the necessary information you need from customers, such as measurements and weight limits, and then have a customer service rep reach out to them directly to finalize the order. This way, customers can still place their order through your existing Shopify store, but you can ensure you have all the information you need before moving forward with the order. Or you could create a site with your door options, like this one https://doorsdirect2u.co.uk/product-category/french-doors/. I hope it helps!

Hi @kidwhitney ,

I’m curious to know how you resolved your issues, but I’d still like to offer a solution in case you haven’t found the best one yet or for other members who may encounter similar issues.

Although you require a significant amount of information from each customer, it can be converted into specific custom options for them to select. For this purpose, I recommend using the Easify Product Options app, which provides 24 different option input types to accommodate your custom options :hugs: .

Here are some suggested custom options for your site and the suitable option input types provided by the app:

  • Door measurements: Dimension
  • Weight limits: Number text box
  • Hanging: Image swatches
  • Door frame: Image swatches
  • Thickness: Buttons
  • Glass style: Dropdown with images
  • Handing: Image swatches
  • Door finish: Image swatches
  • Door texture: Image swatches
  • Messages: Text area
  • Attachment file: File upload

Please note that these are just random options related to custom doors. If you can provide the exact custom options you require, I can provide precise instructions on how to set them up using the app.

With this app, you can include all the options directly on your product page without the need for a separate form to collect order information :+1: .
