How do I resolve GTIN or MPN number issue on Google Merchant account?

Having problems with my google merchant account. It’s asking for a gtin or mpn number. I have handmade items so how do I get around having to have this? Please help!

There’s one thing I can think of that might work:

  • View the product in Shopify admin
  • “More actions” drop down in the top right
  • Select “Google fields”
  • Tick “This is a custom product”
  • Enter the “MPN” - this could be any code you assign to your products, like CASSIE0001 (make sure it’s unique per product)
  • Save

Then check a bit later to see if the error clears. Not 100% sure if this will work but worth trying.
