I hired a Shopify expert to do the SEO on my store. He completed this a few weeks ago. I as getting 0 organic traffic. A week after he completed the work I started receiving 2 to 5 visitors a day. This number hasn’t increased but has remained consistent. He stated it may take time for Google to index the changes. I also realized he didn’t do SEO updates on my entire store. He chose which collections to optimize and which products to optimize. He optimized my home page but left the rest of the website as it was. He built back links. Do experts normally optimize the entire store of do what he did? I was under the impression he would do the entire store. At this point I can’t afford to pay another expert to work on SEO so I looked at the work he completed and used it as an example on how to format SEO updates. I finished the collection pages but need to do the entire website. I need advice and a new audit. Where can I go to run an audit and is there an app I can use that will
Hello there @Juel There are a lot of factors in determining how long it will take for SEO work to fully bear fruits. Google indexing the changes like he mentioned is one of those factors. In terms of getting someone to do it on your whole store, you’ll likely be looking at higher fees and a higher level of SEO marketer in that scenario. Reddit and Upwork are awesome places to find people like that whenever you’re ready to look.
He is on upwork and I have hired a graphic designer on upwork who designed my stores logo. So I am familiar with the platform. I didn’t hire him through upworth but was under the impression the entire store would be done. Since I posted this thread I researched how to do keyword research myself and SEO work. There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube. The new keywords the expert put on my website came up as great options. So I was able to verify I am on the right path. I am off from work so I will finish the website myself. I don’t think it makes sense to pay again. Thanks for your response. It helped me to realize learning and doing it myself is best. You didn’t answer all of my questions but through YouTube I found relevant information that did. There are experts with channels
who explain everything from
SEO to professional website design using canva and also marketing techniques.
seo usually takes 3-6 months to show noticeable results, depending on your store’s competition and the work done.
also, it’s common for experts to focus on key pages first, such as collections or the homepage, rather than optimizing the entire store. for now, you can use free tools like google search console or ahrefs to run an audit and identify areas needing improvement.
Presently, you can consider doing further optimization on page contents, such as image optimization, keywords deployment and meta tags optimization. You can check this guideline for more details about how to get them started.
