I am using the Venture Theme for shopify. I know that Tag filtering is an option, however that is not exactly what I am looking for.
I am looking to add a sidebar on the left of the screen whenever you go to a different product style category or search for certain design types using the search bar.
For example this picture shows our products in the “Floral” design section:
What I am trying to do is add a sidebar to the left that allows customers to filter all the products that contain “floral” designs, but to filter them based on different product types such as “rugs”,“hoodies”,“leggings” etc. so customers don’t have to scroll forever to find a certain product with the chosen type of print.
Also adding this sidebar to the “Search” option would be awesome, so if someone for example searches for “Cats” usind the searchbar, that all “Cats” designs are shown but it allows the customer to filter the designs depending on the product type.

Ideally I would also like to replace the boxes with circles or a custom html. picture / png. just for that little bit extra.
But if anyone has any suggestions to even add the sidebar I would be extreamly greatful!
I have a little experience experimenting with the code etc. so editing that should not be too much of an issue if you let me know where and what to edit!
