I am looking to do the same. Any further advice on this from anyone?
Did you manage to find out if it was possible at all? I have a property platform, so want to change “/products/2-bedroom-cottage-in-cornwall” to “/properties/2-bedroom-cottage-in-cornwall”.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some assistance with this request, to ensure it gets resolved.
To provide some insight, you cannot redirect URLs that use fixed Shopify paths. This includes /products, /collections, and /collections/all. To learn more about this, you can check out our URL Redirects documentation.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you Blair. Just to confirm, is there absolutely no way this can be done? Even if I paid a technical developer to explore a way to set this up?
It could be a critical issue for me to decide whether to use Shopify. I am building a property auction platform (having built an art auction platform on Shopify previously). But it looks highly unprofessional if I am referring to properties as ‘products’. So unprofessional that I may need to use an alternative site builder.
You are correct. URLs that use fixed Shopify paths are not able to be redirected. While I can completely understand the impact, you can check out our URL Redirects documentation for more information. I will however, be sure to share this feedback with our Developers.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
WHAT!? How can this be the case? I mean, not all stores in the world are “English”. I believe it would be non-beneficial for a German or Dutch store to have the slug **/products/**local-name-of-product.
