Hey guys im new to shopify and was wondering how do I create a product that contains other products from my store?
I am starting up a custom pc building shop. And I want to allow the option for users to “build their own pc” by selecting the parts/products they want inside it such as storage, ram, processor etc. I have these items as stand alone items on the website already. I want to create a bundle / kit that pulls these out of stock when sold.
Any insight on how i can accomplish this? Either via code or an app?
One type is creating custom pages in your theme and letting your buyers select different items as part of a bundle before check out. These are then added as individual order lines.
Other type is creating a virtual item or in your case an item that has options as variations. You then bundle up each possible variation with what components it would contain. The user only sees the one order line during checkout.
For example you could have a standard set of parts and then let user select from:
Option 1 - Storage
Option 2 - Memory
Option 3 - Ram
Couple of things you need to consider is fulfilment and inventory management. Our bundle app will let you connect up all your products to correct SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level.
We also have the additional option of unbundling orders made for a bundled product into the component SKUs post purchase. This way the order lines are only for components and can be fulfilled as per normal.

I would recommend looking into a bundle-building app to accomplish this. This will allow customers to select from a range of products that you configure to be applicable to be added into a bundle. I’ve compiled a couple reputable app options from our app store below:
It can support chaining different conditions, e.g. selecting 1 item from a collection, selecting 1 item from another collection, pay a discounted price.
