I’m trying to add a discount code to our newsletter confirmation email so that customers who sign up for our newsletter receive an email with a discount for their next order.
Shopify docs show this should be possible by editing “languages” under the store theme and “newsletter” section, although that section has no email body template where a coupon code could be inserted. Any help would be appreciated:)

Have a look at the Notifications tab within your Shopify Admin interface. There you will find the email templates. Editing these templates may require coding knowledge.

Hi GabrielS, thanks for the quick response. I looked under the notification settings page like you suggested prior to posting this question. I am unsure which template would be the “newsletter confirmation” as none have that title?
There is an email titled “Customer Marketing Confirmation” but that email is asking the customer to confirm their addition to our list, and not a confirmation of their choice. Perhaps I am setting this up wrong? If I put the coupon into that email, the customer would not need to join the mailing list to get the discount.
Once a customer signs up to our newsletter, what would be the easiest way to “send” them this coupon code for their first order?
Its possible that the email handling is not happening on Shopify’s side. Which platform do you use for the newsletter? Most of the provides allows you to adjust the notifications message from their interface.
